Capoeira for Beginners
Capoeira ATL welcomes beginners of all backgrounds and experience levels. No prior movement, martial arts, or fitness experience is required to begin training Capoeira Regional.

Welcome & Community
Capoeira ATL is built on community. Beginners train alongside others who are also learning, returning, or refining their practice. Classes are welcoming, structured, and guided so students can progress at a comfortable pace while building confidence and connection. Training capoeira is not about perfection. It is about participation, curiosity, and consistency.

Learning Capoeira from the Ground Up
Capoeira offers a full-body practice that develops strength, mobility, coordination, balance, and endurance. Training combines movement, rhythm, and partner interaction in a way that feels challenging, playful, and engaging. Beginners are introduced gradually to fundamental movements, basic rhythms, and foundational principles so the body and mind can adapt together. No one is expected to already know what they’re doing.

Your First Class
Your first class will focus on learning basic movements, understanding rhythm, and becoming familiar with the training environment. You’ll be guided throughout the class and encouraged to move at your own pace.Wear comfortable clothing, bring water, and arrive curious. Everything else will be introduced in class.

Explore The Foundations
If you’d like a closer look before your first class, you can explore our introductory capoeira movement videos and an overview of the Sequência, the foundational movement series created by Mestre Bimba. These videos are optional and meant to support familiarity and curiosity. Many students choose to watch them ahead of time, while others prefer to experience everything in class.
